Pitch Fest 2018 Terms & Conditions


Stages and Format

  1. Writers submit logline (not more than 30 words) and synopsis (300 to 500 words) for Fiction or Factual.

    • All genres accepted except Reality and Variety

    • $10 per entry for Singaporeans. A maximum of 3 entries per participant

    • $15 per entry for Permanent Residents. A maximum of 3 entries per participant

    • For members of Screenwriters Association (Singapore), first 2 entries are free. A maximum of 3 entries per member.

    • Open to Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents.

  2. Entries will be be shortlisted by a panel of experienced screenwriters. All entries will also be invited to observe the pitching and participate in a “speed-date” with producers on Pitch Day.

  3. The top 10 entries will then be invited to an “open” pitch to judges from Association of Independent Producers (AIPRO), Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAAVA), Singapore Association of Motion Pictures Professionals (SAMPP), Viddsee, Screenwriters Association (Singapore) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), on Sunday, 25 November 2018 at The Arts House.

Contest Rules

  1. All copyrights to submitted logline, synopsis and development work belong to the Contestant who entered his/her original work;

  2. Entries with the Contestant’s or Contestants’ names in the loglines and synopses will be disqualified. This is to keep the entries anonymous for blind judging.

  3. Writers may pitch in teams of up to two people for any one pitch, paying the pitch fee of $10 (Singaporean) or $15 (PR) per pitch. Each team will share ONE prize. So if the team wins the top prize, both members will split the $500 cash and $1300 development money.

  4. First prize winner will receive $500 upon announcement. The remaining $1,300 will be disbursed in two tranches of $650 each — the first $650 will be paid upon submission of beats and character bible by 25 Jan 2019, while the second $650 will be paid upon submission of treatment (6-8 pages) by 25 March 2019. Payment will transferred into the winner's bank account within 30 days of submissions.

  5. Second prize winner will receive $200 upon announcement.

  6. All entries must bear the title of the story and page number, at the top of every page.

  7. Contestants are to allow the organiser Screenwriters Association (Singapore) and its sponsor IMDA to profile the event winner and participants for educational, promotional, non-commercial and non-profit purposes.

  8. Finalists are to allow Screenwriters Association (Singapore) and IMDA access to interviews and photos.



The writer (“Writer”) has applied to participate in the SAS PITCHFEST 2018. In consideration of Writer’s application to and/or participation in the PitchFest, Writer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Screenwriters Association (Singapore) and its respective committees, officers, directors, members, PitchFest readers, PitchFest judges, event sponsors and event partners from and against any and all claims, damages, costs, expenses, causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of or relating in any way to the Applicant's submission of intellectual property to the PitchFest.

Writer agrees that submission of his or her intellectual property is entirely at Writer's personal risk. Neither the PitchFest nor the event organisers, sponsors or partners will have any responsibility or liability in connection with the Writer's submission of such intellectual property, or as a consequence of any opinion, analysis or other comment or advice given to Writer concerning the intellectual property. Writer represents that he or she has read this Non-Disclosure Agreement and understands its contents, and has executed it voluntarily, effective on the date indicated below.

The Contestant is making online submissions for the SAS Pitchfest 2018 to the organiser, Screenwriters Association (Singapore), upon the conditions hereinafter set forth.

For the purpose of this Agreement, “Confidential Information” shall mean any information disclosed, made accessible or provided online, whether in writing, orally, visually or electronically or otherwise.

Confidential Information excludes information falling within any one or more of the following:

(a) Information which at the time of disclosure is in the public domain or generally known or available in the industry;

(b) Information which subsequent to disclosure becomes part of the public domain or generally known or available in the industry

(c) Information which was in the possession of the Contestant or Screenwriters Association (Singapore) at the time of submission of loglines, synopses or intellectual property

(d) Information which any of the parties involved independently acquires or develops.

The Contestant shall:

i. Guarantee that his/her submission is original and wholly his/her own work

ii. Safeguard the confidentiality of all Confidential Information and respect the Intellectual Property rights of the other Contestants during the Open Pitch at the Finals

iii. Strictly limit access by its employees, agents or sub-contractors (“Representatives”) to the Confidential Information on a need-to-know basis and ensure that the Representatives are bound by the terms of this Agreement; and

iv. Not circulate, quote, disclose or otherwise reproduce any Confidential Information without the prior written approval of Screenwriters Association (Singapore)


Copyrights to all entries remain with writers who submitted them.

Writers are advised to copyright their works at Writers Guild of America, West Script Registration - WGAW Registry, prior to submissions.
